Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.02% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.05%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which rose 4.48% or 1.14 points to trade at 26.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) added 2.93% or 1.54 points to end at 54.19 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was up 2.76% or 0.75 points to 27.89 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR), which fell 3.57% or 4.32 points to trade at 116.62 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) declined 1.84% or 3.45 points to end at 184.20 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was down 1.79% or 0.62 points to 33.69.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which rose 23.06% to 2.33, Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was up 5.21% to settle at 20.28 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which gained 4.88% to close at 18.70.

The worst performers were SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which was down 7.56% to 22.00 in late trade, Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which lost 3.72% to settle at 168.10 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) which was down 3.57% to 116.62 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 286 to 235 and 103 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.06% or 1.20 to $1,928.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.72% or 1.39 to hit $79.62 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 1.14 to trade at $86.33 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 101.74.
