Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Auto sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.38% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.45%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 2.35% or 16.10 points to trade at 700.60 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 2.00% or 17.05 points to end at 868.10 and Mahindra&Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 1.96% or 22.85 points to 1,186.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which fell 1.54% or 2.00 points to trade at 127.90 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) declined 1.33% or 247.70 points to end at 18,377.70 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was down 1.26% or 6.85 points to 535.90.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 2.35% to 700.55, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.09% to settle at 868.50 and Mahindra&Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 1.89% to close at 1,185.05.

The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 1.37% to 18,363.90 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.14% to settle at 890.05 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.83% to 875.45 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1116 to 699 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1937 rose and 1248 declined, while 142 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mahindra&Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.96% or 22.85 to 1,186.25. Shares in Mahindra&Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) rose to all time highs; rising 1.89% or 22.00 to 1,185.05.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.25% to 17.20.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 3.45 to $1,713.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.90% or 0.89 to hit $98.53 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.93 to trade at $105.34 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.10% to 79.94, while EUR/INR rose 1.02% to 81.96.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.77% at 106.40.
