Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Software and Food&Beverages sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.74%, while the MDAX index added 0.16%, and the TecDAX index added 0.88%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG), which rose 2.98% or 0.32 points to trade at 11.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) added 2.26% or 0.85 points to end at 38.45 and SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) was up 1.94% or 2.44 points to 127.92 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which fell 0.91% or 0.30 points to trade at 32.74 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) declined 0.65% or 0.31 points to end at 46.43 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was down 0.57% or 0.85 points to 148.85.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 3.40% to 30.44, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was up 2.76% to settle at 37.91 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which gained 2.71% to close at 14.76.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 4.67% to 89.75 in late trade, Duerr AG (ETR:DUEG) which lost 2.61% to settle at 27.64 and Krones AG O.N. (ETR:KRNG) which was down 2.15% to 104.80 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which rose 4.18% to 73.55, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.40% to settle at 30.44 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 2.76% to close at 37.91.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 4.67% to 89.75 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which lost 1.29% to settle at 26.78 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 1.05% to 21.58 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 359 to 292 and 94 ended unchanged.

Shares in SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.94% or 2.44 to 127.92.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.69% to 15.09.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.05% or 1.05 to $1,962.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.50% or 0.38 to hit $76.13 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.42 to trade at $80.53 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 99.59.
